Immigration Fees

Fees Required by the Canadian Authorities :

A number of cost recovery and administrative fees are payable by applicants for processing applications of various types. However, all fees are subject to change without notice. In general, fees are payable at the time of application.

Note: All amounts are in Canadian dollars.

There are two fees to be paid when applying for immigration to Canada: application processing fee and Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF).

The processing fee must be paid when the application is submitted to the Visa Office and it is non-refundable whether the application is approved or not.

Application Processing Fees:

Skilled Worker Applicants:

Principal Applicant: CDN $550.00
Spouse of applicant: CDN $550.00
Each dependent 22 years and over: CDN $550.00
Each dependent under 22 years: CDN $150.00

Business Class Applicants (Investors, Entrepreneurs and self-employed):

Business applicant: CDN $1,050.
Spouse of applicant: CDN $550.00
Each dependent 22 years and over: CDN $550.00
Each dependent under 22 years: CDN $150.00

Family Class Sponsorship Applicants:

Sponsorship application (per application): CDN $75.00
Principal applicant: CDN $475.00
Principal applicant (less than 22 years of age): CDN $75.00
Each dependent 22 years and over: CDN $550.00
Each dependent under 22 years: CDN $150.00

Humanitarian and compassionate Ground Applicants:

Principal Applicant: CDN $550.00
Spouse of applicant: CDN $550.00
Each dependent under 22 years: CDN $150.00
Note: This application is made under Section 25 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and under this section, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration may grant permanent resident status to an inadmissible foreign national based on humanitarian and compassionate considerations or public policy considerations.

Right of Permanent Residence Fees (All applicants):

• CDN $490
Note: This fee is payable by principal applicant and accompanying spouse or common-law partner and accompanying dependent children who are above 22 years old. This fee can be paid any time during processing but it must be paid before the immigrant visa is issued overseas or before the applicant becomes a permanent resident in Canada. This fee is refundable if the application is withdrawn or if an immigrant visa is not issued.
These people do not have to pay this fee:
• Dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild; and
• Protected persons, including Convention refugees.

Fees Required by the Quebec Authorities:

The Quebec authorities require a fee for applicants who wish to settle in the province of Quebec. This fee is payable at the beginning of the procedure and is non refundable in case of refusal. This fee is in addition to the ones required by the Canadian authorities.
Application processing fee:
• Independent applicant: CDN $390
• Entrepreneur and self-employed applicant: CDN $700
• Investor applicant: $3,850 CDN.
• Sponsorship applicant: CDN $ 250.
• Each dependant (including spouse): CDN $ 150

Temporary Resident Visas:

Single entry visitor visa fee: CDN $75.00
Multiple entry visitor visa fee: CDN $150.00
Work Permit Fee: CDN $150.00
Study Permit Fee: CDN $125.00
Restoration of Temporary Resident Status fee: CDN $200.00
Application for a Travel Document fee: CDN $50.00

Other Visas:

Extension of Authorization to Remain in Canada as a Temporary Resident fee: CDN $50.00
Permanent Resident Card fee: CDN $50.00
Renewal or replacement of lost, damaged or stolen PR card: CDN $50.00
Certification and replacement of an immigration document fee: CDN $30.00
Determination of rehabilitation fee, if inadmissible on the grounds of serious criminality: CDN $1000.00
Determination of rehabilitation fee, if inadmissible on the grounds of criminality: CDN $200.00
Authorization to return to Canada fee: CDN $400.00
